Rock The Vote, Day 23: Jimmy Fallon

Rock The Vote is an original series, where I make an educated and researched guess on who certain celebrities are voting for Nov. 3, 2020.

Jimmy Fallon is a comedian, former SNL cast member, and current host of The Tonight Show. Truthfully, he is a person I think about often because I'm convinced a lot of things are going on behind the scenes but I also think about how Fallon is simply a comedian who now hosts The Tonight Show, a late-night talk show that has to get political quite often.

In 2016, before the election, Donald Trump appeared on The Tonight Show, where Fallon tousled Trump's hair. This was met with much criticism as many people perceive Trump as a dangerous man who was treated like a celebrity on the show. After Trump won the presidency, Fallon apologized for the interview, saying he didn't mean to "humanize" Trump; if anything he wanted to "minimize him."

After Fallon apologized for this Trump interview, Trump tweeted for Fallon to "be a man" and not apologize for it. In response, Fallon donated to RAICES, an immigration rights organization, in Trump's name. After Trump became president, Trump signed into effect an executive order that "banned foreign nationals from seven predominantly Muslim countries from visiting the country for 90 days, suspended entry to the country of all Syrian refugees indefinitely, and prohibited any other refugees from coming into the country for 120 days," according to ACLU Washington.

In 2017 during an interview with The TODAY Show, Fallon said he doesn't want to go into the "anti-Trump lane," even though his peers, like Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert, are outspoken with their criticisms for the presidents. He added that he made jokes about former President Barack Obama and he continues to make jokes about Trump.

During the 2018 New Yorker Festival, Fallon said he tries to stay out of politics and not "preach" to his audience what he believes.

I believe Fallon is voting for presidential nominee Joe Biden.
